Ho Chi Minh City named hottest dining destination this year by Eater

Each year, Eater - the “go-to resource for dining and restaurant obsessives” - publishes its annual “Where to Eat” list featuring the year’s hottest dining destinations for those who “travel to eat”. For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City was included in this year’s coveted list (11 cities on five continents) alongside rising culinary stars: Guatemala, Sardinia and Manila. The exciting list comes shortly after the announcement of the nation’s inaugural MICHELIN Guide.

Along with the special mention, Eater also released a “Signature essential restaurant map” including a round-up of 31 must-visit food and drink spots in Ho Chi Minh City written by Canadian-Vietnamese local Linh Phan (founder of Hidden Saigon) who has called Saigon home since 2007.

In the list, you’ll find your usual suspects including Café des Stagiaires, Ănăn Saigon, Quince Saigon and Pizza 4P’s as well as lesser-known newcomers including Maguro Studio. Popular street food spots such as Chả Cá Lã Vọng and Làng Nướng Nam Bộ also make an appearance for those craving a local “sit-on-a-small-stool” experience by the river with a bucket of ice-cold Bia Saigon cans. Especially exciting this year is the collaboration with local experts, which offers a deeper insight into each city's food culture beyond restaurants.

With over 10 million followers across its social media channels, Eater is a food website by Vox Media and the go-to resource for those who “care about dining and drinking”. Founded in 2005, Eater is a favourite of both industry professionals and amateurs with a penchant for discovering new openings, where to eat, who’s serving what, how it’s all going down and why it all matters.
