10 Wine bars in Ho Chi Minh City for a Sipping Good Time
If you're like me and red love is your first love, then this is the list for you. Whether you're into full-bodied reds, sweet Riesling whites or natural and organic wines - there's something for everyone in Vietnam, the third-largest wine consumer market in the ASEAN region (15.3 million litres in 2020).
From al fresco hangouts to fine wine havens and charming Italian wine bistros, there's even an underground cave wine bar inspired by the romantic blue grottos in Europe for the whimsy. Here's my list of 10 wine bars for a swirling good time in Ho Chi Minh City - take your pick.
District 1
Cellar Wine Bistro: A Wine Bar Nestled In A Craft Beer Brewery
One of my favourite things about Cellar is its playful and approachable wine list segmented based on what kind of wine-drinker you are. Cheeky titles such as ‘I’ll have a glass to be social’ and ‘Wow you really do love your wine’ feature throughout the menu and not only inject good-spirited fun but also downplay the ‘upscale, pretentious and stuffy’ reputation typically associated with a wine bar.
A casual-esque wine bar above one of the city’s most well-known craft beer bars - Heart of Darkness - here’s where you can start with a glass of wine (30 by the glass and 140 by the bottle) and end with an ice-cold beer and some good ol’ bar grub.

Glou Glou Wine Bar
A quaint spot along the busy Ben Nghe strip of District 1, newcomer Glou Glou is run by Vino Beer who supplies to some of the city’s most notable restaurants and bars as well as five-star hotels and resorts. So, don’t be surprised to find yourself in the company of leading industry tastemakers sipping away.
Needless to say, here you’ll find an extensive list of wines (of course) but Glou Glou is best-known for its ‘large and exclusive selection of organic, biodynamic and natural wines’ including Pipeño Coronel de Maule, Savigny-Champ-Chevrey and Bret Brothers, Bret Nat' and its delicious menu from Le Corto Restaurant helmed by Chef Sakal Phoeung. If you’re having bouts of anxiety and indecision choosing from Glou Glou’s extensive wine line, simply ask wine experts and founders Benjamin Thomine and Axel Riff for what best suits your palate.

Tipsy Wine Bar
One of the OG wine bars in town, Tipsy is a popular go-to for many long-term expats and locals alike and for good reason. The wines here are easy on the wallet and after a few glasses of vino, you’ll easily be tempted to swing a few bottles home. The best part? You won’t even feel the pinch. For the discerning, premium bottles of Bordeaux and Burgundy and 100 other wine labels are also up for grabs. On the grub front, you can enjoy Tipsy’s Signature mixed platter of cheese and cold cuts with a bottle of wine (from a selected list) for only 1 million VND.

Binh Thanh
BEL Coffee
Launched in 2022, BEL is a new rooftop bar in Saigon. And if the name ‘BEL’ rings a bell (pun intended), it’s because BEL is a dual-space that offers coffee by day and wine by night - or vice versa, if you fancy.
BEL’s rooftop bar is located on the 7th floor and has a modern and sleek design, lush greenery and open-air surroundings that give you a great view of the cityscape and riverfront. Coupled with a cosy but growing wine list offering wine by the glass (from 150,000 VND per glass) from a range of regions like Germany, Argentina and California. We recommend checking out BEL on Fridays for buy-one-get-one-free Frose and Aperol Spritz. You may have just found your new spot to transition from work to relaxation - without having to even leave your table.

Lozzi
The intimate and cosy feels are strong at this one. Tucked away on the second floor of a two-storey shophouse situated along the hip Pham Viet Chanh stretch, Lozzi is a wine bar owned by charming Japanese duo Yuka and Kunie. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted with a rustic wooden staircase flanked with decorative wine bottles before you’re perched over Lozzi’s balcony overlooking the streets and people-watching. No wine snobs here and perfect for wine newbies in this eclectic and unpretentious little space.
Here, you can enjoy a curated selection of wines, Japanese beers and whiskey as well as a selection of cold cuts and light bites. Inside, there’s even a small sake bar called Nomiya.

Pickles Eatery and Wine Bar
Nestled in a two-storey heritage shophouse in Binh Thanh district, Pickles Eatery bills itself as a contemporary epicurean haven and its generous selection of imported wine and food menu, which is eclectically Mediterranean and regionally inspired, attests to it: salads, cold cut and cheese platters, small plates, seasonal seafood and hearty meat dishes, plus desserts.
A tribute to the country it calls home, Pickles uses high-quality local ingredients and produce from Vietnam. ger to Saigon’s ever-changing food and drink scene (ex-owner of now-defunct 13% Wine Bistro). strip, Pickles pairs plates of French and Mediterranean comfort food with over 350 wine labels from Morocco all the way to France and beyond.

Thao Dien
Grotto
Akin to a speakeasy bar, Grotto’s entrance is not easy to spot despite its prime real estate on one of Thao Dien’s busiest roads. Mimicking the natural wonders of a cave, Grotto, which translates into ‘cave’ in Italian, features intricately carved booths that look like tunnels and allow guests to move in-between. For those looking for a bit of privacy, simply draw the deep red curtains for an intimate evening of mystery and magic.
Wine racks are built into the textured walls, with each individual groove cradling an assortment of wine bottles from Merlot, Cabernet, Pinot to Rosé thoughtfully strewn together. One of my favourite things about Grotto is the private dining room, which comfortably sits a party of 6 to 8. There’s also an outdoor bar for those looking to kick back, relax and smoke a cigarette with a glass in hand.

MAD Wine bar - Thao Dien
Here’s a familiar name to any wine drinker in Ho Chi Minh City. A longstanding crowd favourite located in Ho Chi Minh City’s expat enclave, MAD Wine Bar has been attributed for pioneering Saigon’s wine culture by being one of the first ‘authentic’ wine bars liken to ones seen in Europe. With one of the biggest wine lists both by the glass and bottle mostly focused on old world wines and classic charcuteries, the atmosphere is cozy and intimate indoors and slightly more lively outdoors in the large Courtyard adjunct to MAD Wine bar.

The sleek, high-ceilinged wine bar resting on the ground floor of Hotel G Singapore takes a French approach to its menu of charcoal-grilled meats, cold cuts and cheese — all of which go beautifully with the lovely French wines. They’re pretty pocket-friendly too!

Don’t be fooled by its name, RAW is a new food and drink bar where the wine list and cocktails are as fresh as its food. Sleek yet edgy in all the right places with chill vibes all night long, here you can enjoy one of more than 20 wine labels by the glass where the good folks at RAW will be happy to guide you in the right direction.
