Editorial Policy
No freebies unless otherwise stated. This means you can trust Jovel and her team to speak their mind and share impartial, intelligent and discerning restaurant reviews, guides and happenings. The reviews offer constructive feedback and are simply the opinion of Jovel and her writers alone. All restaurant reviews are done with one guest to allow for a greater variety of dishes and a better representation of the dining out experience.
We believe in educating the industry and this means covering the latest and the greatest in the F&B industry including new homegrown opening as well as other innovative and unprecedented concepts. The reviews reflect the dining experience on six parameters – food (spanning flavour, technique, quality of ingredients and presentation), service, location, interior, atmosphere and value for money. The review encompasses the overall restaurant experience with everything from making a booking through to dining and walking out at the end of the meal.
Restaurants: please do monitor your reviews and feel free to respond to the review and customer feedback by using the comments function or on social media posts. You can turn a negative experience into something positive and improve customer satisfaction.
PRs & Marketers: feel free to notify us of new homegrown F&B concept openings with a copy of the menu, so we can decide whether they qualify for an incognito review. In addition, Jovel has a number of other sections – food features, celebrity chef interviews, resources – so please do consider these in your pitches. For marketing opportunities, please email directly.
