Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has welcomed a new Executive Pastry Chef, Stephane Prost, a French national who brings more than 30 years of international culinary experience to his new role at Vietnam’s most storied hotel.

Chef Stephane’s career has spanned all corners of the globe, from Europe to North America and from Africa to the Middle East and Asia, where his unique creations have drawn wide acclaim in Michelin-starred restaurants at 5-star hotels, as well as in resorts, palaces, and luxury pastry shops. He has a particularly strong passion for fine chocolates and has undergone extensive specialist training in this area of the culinary arts.

He will carry on Metropole Hanoi’s strong tradition of classic French pastries while also introducing his signature creations. He will oversee the historic hotel’s veteran pastry team and initially focus his efforts on L’Epicerie du Metropole, the Parisian-style shop that offers a distinctive selection of fine pastries and chocolates, among other delicacies.

Chef Stephane’s arrival at Metropole Hanoi comes as the iconic, 123-year-old luxury hotel in Vietnam’s capital reopens its historic Heritage Wing following an extensive and inspired refurbishment.

His arrival also follows that of a new Chef de Cuisine at Le Beaulieu, Charles Degrendele, who joined the award-winning modern French fine dining restaurant after its relaunch in 2022 following an extensive refurbishment that resulted in an elegant and sophisticated new design, alongside renowned French gastronomy and Hanoi’s most impressive selection of wines.
