Once again, Anan Saigon is named the best restaurant in Vietnam for the third year

For the third time in a year since its debut in 2021, Anan Saigon continues to reign supreme clinching the coveted title of “Vietnam’s Best Restaurant” at this year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List at no.48. Furthermore, Anan Saigon was the only Vietnam representative on this year’s list though trailblazing industry leaders, media and chefs from Vietnam were present at the prestigious awards held in Korea.

This year's roundup of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants brought together culinary gems from 19 different cities. The winners were handpicked by a panel of 318 experts, including food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and culinary leaders, ensuring a diverse and balanced selection process.

Famed for its playful and modern approach to Vietnamese cuisine, Anan Saigon (which means ‘eat eat’) is located in Chợ Cũ along Tôn Thất Đạm Street, an unassuming location in the middle of a bustling wet market. Dishing out what is dubbed as Cuisine Mới, or New Vietnamese Cuisine, Peter Cuong Franklin elegantly marries traditional Vietnamese cuisine with modern presentation and techniques, elevating the cuisine through his own interpretations inspired by the country’s vibrant food culture as well as his culinary sojourns in foodie capitals such as New York, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Joining Anan Saigon on the list includes restaurants from 19 cities as well as multiple new entries like Jakarta (Indonesia), Ling Long (Shanghai) and Meet at the Bund (Shanghai). Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Tokyo stole the show with eight, six, and five winners respectively, while Seoul and Shanghai held their own with four spots each. From Osaka to Ho Chi Minh City, cities across the continent were represented, with each spot offering a unique culinary experience.

Several special awards were also given out last night. Lamdre, the plant-based spot in Beijing, snagged the American Express One to Watch award, tipping them as a top contender for next year's list. And over in Hong Kong, veteran chef Danny Yip got The Icon Award for his awesome work at The Chairman. He's all about using local ingredients and supporting local artisans—pretty rad, right?

There was however, a moment of stunned silence at the awards ceremony when last year's champion, Bangkok's Le Du, snagged the No. 12 spot, the excitement was palpable as its sister spot, Nusara, snagged the Gin Mare Art of Hospitality award.
